Senior Data Analyst
Apply advanced statistical analysis and modeling techniques to support a range of complex business requirements and information needs of diverse stakeholders.
Perform complex SAS queries to support business requirements and information needs.
Design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using advanced data visualization tools such as Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to optimize the accuracy and completeness of physician billing data and identify and address data quality issues.
Provide subject matter expertise, methodological guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders on data analysis.
Model data using development and report specifications and/or development to support business and clinical requirements and information needs.
Conduct advanced data analysis, prepare detailed standard and customized reports, generate data summaries and present findings to a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of data literacy.
Build new and contribute to existing databases, data pipelines, and dashboards and designs.
Implement data discipline, quality assurance, data sharing protocols, and legislative compliance protocols.
Maintain an in-depth understanding of data definitions, data usage applications and how to access and retrieve data for inquiry and reporting purposes.
Seek out external sources of relevant data and information and strive to maintain access to that data, analyze and disseminate it.
Research and recommend solutions or process improvements through technology analysis and integration testing.
Provide analytic support to the SEAMO Management Team, SEAMO Committees and Working Groups, Queen’s Health Sciences (QHS) Departments, Physicians, the QHS Finance Office and SEAMO Billing Services Committee.
Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, responding to data queries in a timely fashion and providing ongoing support.
Regularly provide status updates concerning key data points to relevant stakeholders.
Provide analytical expertise and establish standardized reports through consultation with key stakeholders to support the implementation and ongoing oversight of the Accountability Framework.
Engage and collaborate with partner healthcare organizations (e.g. Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Providence Care Hospital, the South East Local Health Integration Network, etc.).
Maintain a digital connection and accounts with external organizations in order to fulfill data sharing agreements and other informational needs.
Adhere to legislative requirements regarding the handling, management and use of personal health information.
Undertake other duties as required.
University four-year bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as biostatistics, epidemiology or community health.
Several years (5+ minimum) experience in a related field.
Experience in performing statistical analyses using SQL and SAS essential.
Proficiency in designing and developing dashboards using Power BI is highly preferred.
Experience working with large relational databases.
Direct experience in data modeling and programming.
Knowledge of applicable Provincial and Federal legislation regarding the collection and use of personal health information (i.e. PHIPA, FIPPA, PIPEDA, etc.).
Experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with medical terminology considered an asset.
Demonstrated on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

Knowledge of and ability to provide insights/guidance on measurements and methodologies.
Advanced computer skills, with documented ability to develop programs that extract data and access to databases.
Ability to work well independently and within a team-based, diverse environment.
Self-motivated, results-driven and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks.
Ability to initiate new ideas that align with strategic priorities and provide observations of existing strategic priorities.

Set priorities, based on information and direction from the SEAMO Management Team, SEAMO-funded Departments and Committees, as well as other stakeholders.
Determine methods to employ in analysis, synthesis and clarification of information to effectively leverage relevant data as input to making decisions.
Use appropriate level of judgment when bringing forward items to supervisor, with appropriate alternatives and/or recommendations.
Monitor systems and alert senior staff regarding issues that might compromise data integrity and security, appropriately assessing risks and triaging issues. Alert senior staff when necessary.
Determine how, when and to whom information should be distributed.
Respond to inquiries and provide reasonable answers, or a means to find answers if necessary, redirecting inquiries to more senior staff as required.
Determine options or range of solutions to problems where clear guidelines may not exist and refers complex problems to the Senior Project Manager for direction.
Make recommendations to improve reporting, including the data sources used, how the information is presented, etc.
Use judgement and initiative to adapt data extraction and checking programs to suit the unique needs of the requestor.

Job Summary
The Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization (SEAMO) is responsible and accountable for the Alternative Funding Plan Agreement with the Ministry of Health and the Ontario Medical Association. We support the delivery of outstanding healthcare, foster excellence in research and education and facilitate the transformation of academic medicine in Southeastern Ontario.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Senior Data Analyst provides technical expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of complex data solutions.
As a Senior Data Analyst, the position will take lead and be responsible for formulating, managing, and suggesting data-driven projects that align with the organization’s goals.
This position works closely with a variety of stakeholders to identify business requirements and solutions, and develops analytical plans to extract, analyze, and report on large datasets using advanced statistical and visualization software’s (i.e., SAS, SQL, PowerBI, etc.)
The work requires an extensive knowledge of advanced methods, techniques and best practices used in a specialized field such as: statistics, qualitative, quantitative and comparative analysis, data gathering, identification, compilation, statistical software for data analysis, trend analysis and risk analysis.
