Graduate Trainee AI Engineer – Music Tech & Image Processing

Team : Centre for Music Technology and Computational epigraphy

We are seeking a talented and innovative Graduate Trainee – AI Engineer to join our dynamic research team at the Centre for Music Technology and Computational epigraphy. Our lab focuses on cutting-edge technology projects related to ancient Indian languages, culture, and heritage like Tamil and other ancient languages.

About the Role:

As an AI Engineer, you will work on exciting projects at the intersection of artificial intelligence, music technology, and image processing. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research while working in a startup-like environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and optimize AI algorithms for:

·       Audio signal processing and music information retrieval

·       Image enhancement, segmentation, and recognition of ancient scripts

·       Generative models for music

2. Implement end-to-end ML pipelines, from data preprocessing to model deployment

3. Conduct experiments and analyse results using statistical methods and visualization tools

4. Optimize models for performance and scalability in production environments

5. Stay updated with cutting-edge AI research and implement novel techniques in our projects

Requirements:

·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related field

·       1-2 years of experience in AI/ML development

·       Strong proficiency in Python, including experience with NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas

·       Expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch

·     Familiarity with audio processing libraries (e.g., Librosa, PyDub) and computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV, Pillow)

·       Experience implementing and fine-tuning state-of-the-art ML/DL models (e.g., Transformers, GANs, CNNs)

·       Knowledge of signal processing techniques and their applications in audio and image domains

·       Proficiency in version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows

·       Interest in research and ability to work in a startup-like culture

·       Knowledge in indian or western classical music is greatly appreciated

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience with audio signal processing or computer vision

·       Knowledge of Tamil or other ancient languages

·       Publications or contributions to open-source AI projects

Project Areas:

·       Developing AI models for music genre classification, mood detection, and style transfer

·       Creating image processing algorithms for ancient manuscript restoration and text extraction

·       Implementing generative models for creating music in traditional ancient languages styles

·       Building multi-modal AI systems combining audio, text, and image data
