Data Governance Analyst – Expression of Interest Contract

The Purpose:

As a provider of globally competitive payment services, we are looking for a passionate, high-performing professional to join our team in Sydney. Our critical role in supporting the Australian payments ecosystem means we are entrusted with personal information that must be protected, and also need to maintain high levels of data quality to support our products and services.

We are undergoing an exciting Risk Transformation Program, so the purpose of the role will be to:

• Support the implementation of the newly developed Data Governance Framework by establishing underlying policies, processes and governance mechanisms; developing a robust and maintained data catalogue; identifying critical data elements and data quality processes; ensuring that personal information storage is known and secured; and assisting with driving awareness of Data Governance across AP+; and

Your expertise will contribute to successfully embedding and maintaining Data Governance processes across AP+.

Responsibilities of the role will cover the following key areas:

• Assist in developing and running Data Governance forums, including the development of supporting data quality metrics
• Develop and maintain a complete data catalogue
• Review and document lineage for Critical Data Elements to identify risks, controls and issues
• Collaborate with the security team to ensure adequate measures are in place to protect personal information and other confidential and sensitive data
• Oversee the management of data quality issues
• Maintain the Data Governance Framework and supporting policies and processes. Work with stakeholders to ensure that they are appropriately approved and communicated
• Ensure that data risk is considered and managed during new projects and change activity
• Provide status updates on data governance initiatives to the Risk Transformation Program Manager and the Chief Risk Officer, and escalate any risks, issues or dependencies that may impact progress.
• Support training and awareness activities across the business to ensure data governance roles and responsibilities are understood

The skills & knowledge you need to have:

• 3-5 years’ experience in a risk and/or Data Governance role.
• Experience in analysing and documenting data flows
• High level understanding of regulatory landscape for payments or financial services (desirable)
• Strong understanding of data quality concepts, including CDE’s, data quality rules, lineage, risks, controls and issues
• Strong analytical skills and ability to develop an understanding of business data consumption requirements.
• Experience developing and reporting data quality metrics
• Understanding of the Privacy Act and protection of personal information
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to liaise with stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation.
• Ability to make sound administrative and procedural decisions and judgements aligned with agreed objectives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Flexible mindset to support the team with any cross skilling as required
