THE ROLE

As a Data Governance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in structuring and governing our data to drive meaningful actions and insights. By establishing a robust data domain and ownership model, you will empower teams to maximise the value derived from our data.

Specifically, You Will Be Responsible For These Activities

• Leading on the development of the Data Ownership and Domain Model for BBC Studios.
• Establishing and enforcing data governance standards and best practices across domains, promoting data governance awareness and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
• Develop a pragmatic approach to understanding BBC Studios complex organisational structure and implementing the best solution.
• Promoting data governance disciplines and culture internally, educating the business on analytics, reporting, data management and creating accessible documentation which is widely shared and understood.
• Assigning accountability and responsibility for the data to the domain owners and senior stakeholders across the business.
• Provide advice and support to the key stakeholders when ownership is assigned through Data Governance Committees.
• Use data tools, reporting, and knowledge sharing to democratise data across the company.
• Collaborating with Platform teams to ensure data governance principles are integrated into data systems, applications, and infrastructure.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

Key criteria

• Experience as an business analyst role or equivalent.
• Proven experience developing and / or implementing data domain ownership model in a complex organisation.
• Experience of operational risk management
• Experience working with 3rd party vendors
• Influencing skills and ability to build effective relationships across business, technical, and governance functions.
• Experience working collaboratively across a diverse set of stakeholders
• Expert knowledge of data management
• Experience in domain structures and ownership models.

Desirable Skills

• Experience working hands-on with big data systems / complex dataset management and high-level programming languages such as SQL and data visualisation tools (Tableau, PowerBI or similar)
• Commercial experience.
• Experience with agile or other rapid application development methods
• A mix of public sector and commercial experience
• Knowledge of different data programming or structured querying languages

Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience plus London Weighting Allowance. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
