Computer Vision Engineer – No sponsorship Full Time

Location: Camberwell, London (SE5), Hybrid. Attendance at our London office is required one to two days per week.

Seniority Level: Mid to Senior, reporting to the CTO at E-Nano.

Type of role: Full-time, Permanent – would consider 4/5 time.

E-Nano is a robotics and AI startup working on enhancing sports performance through improved sports surface playability and optimum maintenance. This role is pivotal in enhancing our ability to deliver advanced, data-driven solutions that significantly benefit our customers in the sports turf industry.

The role

We are seeking a talented Computer Vision Engineer with a background in agronomy/plant biology to join our dynamic team. This role will involve delivering science in line with milestones and deliverables on innovative research projects being carried out between E-Nano and external collaborators.

Your primary focus of the role will be to design, implement, and validate novel machine learning and computer vision algorithms that empower groundskeepers to detect and address turf defects in natural grass. This will include investigating and combining different sets of data from sensors and detailed imagery.

You will be expected to disseminate progress and results both internally and also in external project meetings, as well as at conferences/trade shows or other events. 

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement novel computer vision and machine learning algorithms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications, ensuring optimal performance and functionality of our solutions.
• Ensure data integrity, including maintaining data storage systems, developing, and establishing data processing pipelines, and performing regular data cleaning and validation tasks.
• Implement, test, and validate algorithms on custom hardware platforms.
• Clearly and scientifically present insightful results through presentations, reports, and technical papers.
• Stay current on emerging trends and advancements in the field of machine learning and computer vision, with emphasis on applications to the SportsTech & AgriTech fields, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our products and services.
• Play a key part in the research and development team, learning from and teaching each other.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience designing, developing, and validating computer vision algorithms and applications.
• A track record of being self-motivated and driving development work.
• Demonstrable experience and proficiency in C++, Python, deep learning and computer vision libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, Pytorch).
• Familiarity with data annotation and model training tools (e.g. Roboflow).
• Proficient in version control systems (e.g. Gitlab).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Nice to Have

• PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or similar.
• Degree in (Sports)Turfgrass Science and Management, Agricultural Sciences.
• Experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure and services.
• Exposure to computer vision and machine learning techniques related to robotics applications.
• Knowledge of either Spanish or French is a plus.
